Jonathan Harris papers(1776–1787)

Three manuscript fragments of Jonathan Harris. The first is a four page account entitled “Jonathan Harris his Memorandum Book, 1776.” It contains observations on the weather and contains a description of losses at several Revolutionary War battles.

The second fragment of two pages is entitled “Jonathan Harris’ Memorandum Book containing his moveings & News received by him while he was under Armes for the support of Government.” It is dated Oxford, Jan. 28th. 1787.

The third item is entitled: “An account of the rise & progress of the Rebellion in Massachusetts in 1787 by Jonathan Harris of Oxford in the County of Worcester.” This sixteen-page manuscript gives a broad overview of Shays’ Rebellion beginning with an account of the hardships of the American Revolution.
