Order: House of Representatives authorizes treasurer to pay 2000 pounds in Continental bills to Joseph Trumbull, commissary general of the Continental Army.

The Massachusetts House of Representatives is the lower house of the Massachusetts General Court, the state legislature of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. The General Court was established in 1630 when the Massachusetts Bay Colony obtained a new charter.

Joseph Trumbull (brother of Jonathan Trumbull, Jr.), a Delegate from Connecticut; born in Lebanon, Conn., March 11, 1737; was graduated from Harvard College in 1756; elected to the Continental Congress in 1774, but did not attend; served in the Continental Army as commissary general with the rank of colonel from July 19, 1775, to August 2, 1777; was commissioner of the board of war from 1777 until his resignation in April 1778 on account of ill health; died in Lebanon, Conn., July 23, 1778; interment in the East Cemetery.
